“They Have Children of Their Own”: Zion Williamson Slams Critics Such as Charles Barkley Who Fat-Shamed Him
Before defenders Herb Jones and Trey Murphy III could reach him at the basket, Jerami Grant dribbled between his legs, knifed between New Orleans players Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, and dunked forcefully with two hands. The Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Pelicans 106-95 on Thursday night despite the absence of their star guard Damian Lillard because to Grant’s impressive 27-point effort and emphatic fourth-quarter splash.
Normally one of the NBA’s top scoring teams in the paint, New Orleans shot only 41.8% (33 of 79) and was outscored 46-36. Zion Williamson missed every game for the New Orleans Pelicans during the previous NBA season due to his fractured foot, which was the least of his issues.

Zion Williamson slams those who fat shame him
Zion did appear overweight on several occasions, but everyone who is slandered will eventually suffer the consequences. The impact on Zion’s mental health was incredibly detrimental. Williamson, who was projected to be an MVP-caliber player and was chosen by New Orleans with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft, found it heartbreaking that he had been reduced to nothing more than a target of cruel weight jokes.
“What people don’t understand is, even the writers and stuff, if they have children of their own, imagine if somebody talked about their child how they spoke about me,” Williamson told FOX Sports last week. “Critiquing my body, critiquing how I look. Every time they talked about me, it was about weight, how bad I looked. I don’t even think they realized what kind of impact that can have on you.”

Zion Williamson arrived at training camp with a noticeably slimmer physique, answering any doubts about his ability to shed weight. And with a 25-point, nine-rebound effort in his regular-season debut against the Brooklyn Nets last month, he quickly put to rest those who were questioning if he could ever be great again.
