“They Got Away With One”: Anthony Davis Fires Shots At Phoenix Suns Sure to Infuriate Devin Booker and Chris Paul
Anthony Davis has been sidelined since Feb. 16 with a mid-foot sprain, and it’s not an exaggeration to say that the Lakers have looked quite hopeless without him, save for two games where LeBron James engaged God mode. At this point, all the Lakers can do is hope and pray for a playoff berth. However, the last time they were thrown out of the playoffs by the Phoenix Suns, who have been in great form this season.
The Lakers‘ 9th seeding in the Western Conference seems like a big letdown since they had such high aspirations for an NBA Championship run when the season began.

The Lakers have been without Anthony Davis for far too long this season. This has put a lot of pressure on LeBron James, who is doing everything he can to carry the load. Davis is now out with a mid-foot injury and does not appear to be returning anytime soon.
Anthony Davis’ bold take on Phoenix Suns’ run last season
When questioned about the Lakers-Suns series, Anthony Davis hinted that the Suns only won because of his injuries. That’s a risky move that will enrage the Phoenix fans and players.
‘It was … We know that. They know that … They got away with one’”
Anthony Davis, asked if his groin injury is the main reason the Lakers didn’t beat the Suns in the playoffs last year, says: “It was … We know that. They know that … They got away with one”

Last season, Booker scored 22 of his 47 points in the first quarter, leading the Suns to their first postseason series win since 2010, when they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 113-100 in Game 6. Davis returned to the Lakers’ starting lineup after missing the second half of Game 4 and all of Game 5, but he only lasted about 5 1/2 minutes before his groin ailment forced him to sit out again.
Starting in February, the Lakers were 21-6 until losing Davis and then James to long-term injuries, and the champions never recaptured their greatest form. Even if Davis were healthy, the Lakers would have struggled to keep up with Booker‘s latest display of brilliance.
