“There’s Too Much Going On Right Now”- Jimmy Garoppolo Shares His Thoughts Amidst Links to Texans and the Jets

Fortunes have changed drastically for Jimmy Garoppolo this year. Once a starting quarterback at the San Francisco 49ers, Garoppolo lost his place to the up-and-coming Trey Lance, who was the third pick in the first round of the 2021 draft. Unfortunately for Lance, he suffered a broken ankle in only his second game this season against the Seattle Seahawks. As the saying goes, one man’s loss is another man’s opportunity, and this was exactly what happened with Garoppolo.

While Lance was out injured, Garoppolo regained his starting role and has not looked back since. So far this season Garoppolo has thrown for 2,159 yards (19th in the league), 15 touchdowns (tied 11th in the league).

Unfortunately for Garoppolo, his time with the 49ers is coming to an end as he will be a free agent in March. Given that the team has made it very clear that Lance will be their main man moving forward, it is unlikely that Jimmy Garoppolo will re-sign with the 49ers. There are strong reports that suggest that Garoppolo will either play for the Texans or the Jets next season.

Jimmy Garoppolo sheds light on his future and what might be next for him

In a recent interview, he spoke about his plans and what might be next for him. He said, “I’m trying to worry about red zone [offense] today. No, I’ll worry about that at the end of the year. There’s too much going on right now, especially in a short week like this. It’s been a bit of a catch-up week, so had to catch up on sleep, catch up on our film stuff, but yeah, we’ll worry about that when we get there.”

When asked how he keeps his focus with everything that is going on around him, Jimmy Garoppolo continued, “I think routine’s a big part of it. I just love football, man, so that kind of makes it easy. There will be times throughout the season where you want to kick back a little bit and relax, but no, I love football. It’s easy waking up every morning, going after it, and we don’t have to work real jobs, we’re football players, so we’re lucky man, you have to take advantage of it.”
