Finally, Monty Williams was introduced as Detroit’s HC on Tuesday. Along with team owner Tom Gores and general manager Troy Weaver, Monty spoke for the first time as a member of the Pistons. He then addressed the sensitive issue of his wife Lisa Keeth, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

“I talked to my wife today about whether or not we should talk about publicly, but that was a huge part of my decision-making and the patience that Troy and Mr. Gores had with me and with us as we navigated that, told me a lot… My wife found out she has breast cancer during the playoffs. The reason I bring that up is to not talk about the family, but to make it more of an emphasis that women need early detection testing. We had genetic testing done and scan after scan, and we found it early. That might’ve saved my wife’s life and it might save others”, Detroit Pistons’ new head coach explained.

With the team, Monty Williams agreed to a $78.5 million contract. He has been chosen to take the group back to the “competing phase.” After leaving the Phoenix Suns, Williams wanted to take some time off to care for his family, but Tom Gores and Troy Weaver approached him and offered him private jet travel and a variety of health benefits for his wife, according to Omari Sankofa II from the Detroit Free Press.
