Texans QB CJ Stroud Believes His Faith Is What Gets Him Through Thick And Thin
Following the release of a video clip from his postgame interview following the Houston Texans’ victory against the Cleveland Browns on social media, which removed his remarks about his religion and Jesus Christ, C.J. Stroud’s faith became a hot topic of conversation for the week.

The criticism of Stroud’s beliefs from the outside seemed to have no effect on him. After Saturday’s defeat to the Baltimore Ravens, he began his postgame news conference by giving thanks to God. Next, he was questioned about turning to his religion during difficult times.
#Texans QB CJ Stroud talks about:
– Players appreciating him giving glory to Jesus Christ
– Praised John Harbaugh for reading Scripture
– Said “There’s a lot of [players & coaches] out here that love the Lord” pic.twitter.com/ALjbfd2Lpq— Jon Root (@JonnyRoot_) January 22, 2024
He began with a stirring statement, emphasizing that his message wasn’t about him but rather about God. He then mentioned how many NFL players and coaches have contacted him to express their gratitude for his virtually constant expression of faith.
“It’s what I lean on through thick and thin,” Stroud told reporters. “I know I’m upset right now, but I’m really just blessed looking back on this year, this opportunity we had today to play in front of millions of people. I’m just really grateful to God for all the opportunities He’s blessed me with.
CJ Stroud is an amazing quarterback and a devout Christian.
But NBC is so afraid of him mentioning the name of Jesus Christ on air that they edited his post-game interview.

“I’m just gonna lean on Him and I know that this isn’t the end for me. It’s a lot of more football for me to play, and I’m just excited for that. And I’m super blessed with the guys who I lined up with every week this year. And I’m just really thankful to God on how much he’s brought me from – I can go all the way to when I was a kid to college to Week 1 to now. I’ve grown as a person and as a man of God in a lot of different ways. I’m just really blessed for that.”
Days before the playoff game, Stroud’s religion was questioned when a tape from the “Sunday Night Football” X report was released, excluding the quarterback’s remarks about Jesus Christ. Instead of displaying the comments, Stroud’s affection for Houston was highlighted in the piece.

A video from the “Sunday Night Football” X report that didn’t include the quarterback’s comments about Jesus Christ was leaked a few days prior to the playoff game, raising doubts about Stroud’s faith. Stroud’s love for Houston was emphasized in the article rather than the remarks.
Was CJ Stroud censored?
After the interview was circulated on social media, NBC strangely decided to exclude Stroud’s religious remarks from the opening segment.

Being from DFW I have a hatred for Houston sports and love to give their fans a hard time, but they have a real one in CJ Stroud. This throw was gorgeous. pic.twitter.com/uMdBXMv69A
