Take A Look At Russell Wilson’s Wife Ciara’s Reaction On His Benching

Ciara, the spouse of Russell Wilson, has taken note of his recent social media activities.

Wilson posted on X on Wednesday, saying, “God’s got me.” The 38-year-old singer “liked” it. As the quarterback was benched by the Broncos and was expected to be released by Denver, fans expressed excitement for what was to come.

With backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham earning the start against the Chargers and Raiders in Weeks 17 and 18, respectively, Wilson, 35, will not play in the remaining two games of the regular season, as confirmed by Broncos head coach Sean Payton on Wednesday.

“I understand all the speculation and everything that surrounds a move like that,” Payton said. “I can tell you, look, we’re desperately trying to win. Sure, in our game today, there are economics and all those other things, but the No. 1 push behind this — and it’s a decision I’m making — is to get a spark offensively.”

There’s little chance the Broncos, who are 7-8, will make the playoffs when they play the Chargers on Sunday.

Wilson’s benching occurs a few days following Denver’s devastating Christmas Eve home loss to the Patriots, 26–23.

The topic about the former Pro Bowl quarterback’s postgame plans was skirted by the player, who arrived in Denver in March 2022 after a sensational deal with the Seahawks.

“I’m just worried about next week and playing great football,” Wilson told reporters Sunday. “I came here to win and win a championship for us and find a way to do that. Obviously, I love being here with these guys, these teammates. I’m excited to keep playing ball and playing hard for us.”

Wilson had a poor season in 2022 (16 touchdowns versus 11 interceptions), but he has improved this year, and the Broncos seem prepared to move on.

The quarterback “would lose the starting job and be made inactive for the rest of the season if he did not defer the injury guarantee trigger date that he has for 2025,” the Broncos allegedly threatened to tell Wilson’s camp in late October, according to a report published on Wednesday by The Athletic.

Wilson’s contract was not altered, and The Athletic reports that he will likely be cut during the summer.

This coming March, a $37 million injury guarantee for 2025 becomes operative.

Wilson, who recently welcomed his third child, daughter Amora Princess, with Ciara, has received support from quarterback Geno Smith, a former teammate of his while playing for the Seahawks, in the wake of the ongoing drama.

Smith uploaded “Free 3” to X on Wednesday.

In Seattle, where Smith spent his first ten years as a player after being selected in the third round, Russell Wilson was replaced.
