Take A Look At Best NFL Player Nicknames

We have witnessed a number of colourful characters play in the NFL during its storied history, many of whom have adopted their own nicknames.

Then other players don’t have very colourful personalities but have nicknames that have been given to them by other players, the media, and fans.

One of the most amusing aspects of sports, particularly in the NFL, is undoubtedly nicknames.

Players have given themselves nicknames and been given nicknames by other players. Either way, everything is OK.

In keeping with that, let’s examine the greatest nicknames in NFL history.

How can you not appreciate the moniker “Sauce,” particularly when playing cornerback? Gardner proved that the name fits him throughout his debut year. Gardner was chosen for the First Team All-Pro, won Defensive Rookie of the Year, and made it to the Pro Bowl.

You may argue that Russell Wilson is too corny, as many of you think. Yes, you most likely do. But he’s a kind man, and he was a fantastic player once. When DangeRuss was sent to Denver, it appeared that his existence in the Pacific Northwest was abandoned. Wilson will need to remind the league of the “DangeR” component of that moniker following his 2022 performance overall.

Another moniker taken from a media celebrity by Patrick’s biggest on-screen fan. When Shannon Sharpe joined the Mahomes bandwagon a couple years ago, he gave us this incredible gift.

Given that Skip “Drip” Bayless, one of the most well-known sports media trolls on the planet, gave Micah Parsons this moniker, he may or may not like it. Even if Skip is utterly full of jackassery, Parsons has a decent name thanks to him.

For the Arizona Cardinals, Kyler Murray is the “1”—at least, that’s what the number indicates. Combining initials with numerals typically results in some clever nicknames. It’s the same with this one.

As swift as a cheetah, as light as a hiccup. Whatever you want to call it, Tyreek Hill is known for his speed, and he has a plenty of it. In Louisville, Kentucky, Hill recently competed in the USA Track & Field Masters Indoor Championships. Hill is practicing for and participating in track meetings with some of the fastest athletes in the world while the majority of players are taking time off for much-needed relaxation and recuperation.

Given that Joe Burrow has amassed a number of nicknames, it’s a case of selecting your poison. Depending on your attitude, you might choose “Joey Franchise,” “Joe Cool,” or, of course, “Joe Shiesty.” He’s earned all three and more with the way he’s performed since joining the NFL and turning around the Cincinnati Bengals.

Regardless of your feelings against Daniel Jones, you have to realize that “Danny Dimes” is a pretty great moniker for anyone. It works even if he isn’t best known for “dropping dimes” since that’s not a term we hear in the NFL very often. (Or, “Vanilla Vick,” as Saquon Barkley refers to him.)

After being cut by the Indianapolis Colts early in the summer, Matt Ryan is presently without a team. However, Ryan will always be known as “Matty Ice” even when he retires, regardless of where he plays or how good he performs.

A lot of people give Kirk Cousins trouble, and sometimes he deserves it. He didn’t live up to the moniker “Captain Kirk” and was unable to lead the Minnesota Vikings past the wild card round of the playoffs, despite having a fantastic regular season. Even if it was unavoidably his fault, Cousins’ Vikings failed to meet the expectations placed on the quarterback.

Since moving out of New England, Jimmy Garoppolo has done a great job of capitalizing on his signature Hollywood style. He would have already won a Super Bowl and most likely still be the 49ers quarterback if his right arm had the same charisma as his grin. Well, we can’t have it all in life.

In a very short period of time, Barkley‘s thighs—whether they are dubbed “SaQuads” or “Quadzilla”—have become famous. Since he has huge quads, it goes without saying that he squats five times his body weight. His driving force from his legs demonstrates why everyone is in awe of his quads when he’s in good health.
