T.J. Watt Injury Update : How Long Will He Be Out With A Torn Pectoral Muscle?

T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers is the most recent player to withdraw from the season opener due to an injury.

In Week 1, Watt was injured after colliding with Joe Burrow on a last-second drive. He stood up after tackling Burrow, moved to the sideline while gripping his shoulder, and talked with trainers. Instead of entering the medical tent, they went straight to the locker room.

After the Steelers lost Levi Wallace, Mason Cole, and Najee Harris to injuries, Watt was hurt.

The injury has not yet been disclosed by the team, but as he approached the sideline, he told the trainers, “I tore my pec.”

Prior to getting hurt, Watt had six tackles and a sack.

Update On Watt’s Injury

The Steelers’ exciting 23-20 victory over the Bengals in overtime might have cost a lot. Prior to Chris Boswell’s game-winning field goal on the last play of overtime, T.J. Watt and Najee Harris both suffered injuries that required them to exit the game.

During the second half, Watt, the current defensive player of the year, suffered a pec injury. The Steelers suspect Watt tore his pec, and he’ll have scans Monday, per ESPN.

Cam Heyward, the defensive captain for the Pittsburgh Steelers, talked about Watt’s influence on the defense after the game, but he wouldn’t comment on the injury.

Heyward said, “Having T.J. out there obviously assists us. He is a boss. He is the year’s best defender. Other guys must step up, no matter how long it takes. Today, Alex Highsmith performed admirably. Jamir Jones and Malik are moving forward. There, we had to carry out a variety of tasks.

Soon after the game, the Steelers announced that they were worried Watt’s self-diagnosis might be accurate. To pinpoint the precise kind and extent of the damage, he will go through testing. However, if a torn pectoral is the cause, he may be sidelined for several months and maybe the entire 2022 NFL season.

Watt’s prolonged absence would be a significant loss for the Steelers going forward. He is one of the NFL’s most dominant defensive players.
