T.J. Dillashaw Lauds ‘Little Ball of Muscle’ Henry Cejudo; Predicts Fight Between ‘Triple C’ and Alexander Volkanovski

T.J. Dillashaw and Henry Cejudo very seldom have anything good to say about each other, however, Dillashaw broke this cycle when speaking about Cejudo on ‘Submission Radio’. The former 135-pound champion recognized Cejudo’s skill in the wrestling department and talked about how it would aid him in a fight against Alexander Volkanovski.

Per Dillashaw, Cejudo being a ‘ball of muscle’ could get in and out of positions in a way that could give Alexander ‘The Great’ a whole host of problems. However, he would go on to admit that Volkanovski was a tough opponent in his own right, and would it would certainly be a close contest.

“Cejudo’s got good distance control. I mean obviously the wrestling and just the speed right. I think Volkanovski, he packs a punch but he’s a lot faster than 45ers. His stature is just a little bit different. He’s like a little ball of muscle. And I feel like Cejudo is just as fast as him and can get to those scrambles with him.”

“And actually think that grappling would actually slow Volkanovski down and Cejudo’s distance control. I think stylistically, it’s a close fight. I’m not saying that Cejudo goes in there and wins, but I think he would give Volkanovski a tough matchup.” [h/t middleasy.com]

Can Henry Cejudo become a three-division champion?

Given Cejudo’s stature, he’ll certainly be in favor of the fact that Alexander Volkanovski isn’t the biggest 145-pounder on the roster. In fact, Volkanovski’s build puts him closer to that of a bantamweight, thus leaving the playing field somewhat even.

Moreover, wrestling is sure to be a deciding factor in a match-up between evenly sized individuals and Henry Cejudo’s wrestling is world-class, to say the least. He’s able to utilize the space around him effectively, and also packs a fair amount of power in his punches.

However, Volkanovski has made a habit of simply walking down his opponents and systematically making sure that he imposes his game plan. From range striking to using leg kicks effectively, Volkanovski is a terror once he gets going. One thing is for sure, this match-up is certainly one that has the fan base excited.
