‘Stop Being on TMZ. Get His Life Together’- Israel Adesanya Has Some Advice for Arch Rival Jon Jones
UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya spoke out to MMA Fighting and weighed in on the future endeavors of his rival Jon Jones. At one point, Jones and Adesanya were bitter adversaries, constantly engaging in verbal warfare on Twitter. In fact, their spat was so volatile that fans were expecting the UFC to announce a fight between them at the earliest.
However, the vitriol between both men seems to have calmed down, and neither man has spoken out about the other, until now.
Israel Adesanya offered Jon Jones some advice after the latter hasn’t been engaged in active competition since February 2020. Per Adesanya, Jones should resume his fighting career before they eventually face off and, as his inactive stint has been significant.
“He should move up in weight first [before we fight],” Adesanya said at the press conference for his UFC 276 showdown with Jared Cannonier. “Go fight Francis [Ngannou], or even, like, I don’t know, stop being on TMZ. Get his life together.”
“This is facts, or am I saying anything that’s not true?” he continued. “Just get his s*** together first, like [Daniel Cormier] said, and yeah, start fighting again, because there’s no fight if someone’s not fighting.”

Additionally, Israel Adesanya also talked about how he’s been the one constantly fighting and defending his belt. He said that he was only worried about the trajectory of his own career and is hellbent on cementing his own legacy as an all-time great champion.
“I’m the one fighting, I’m staying active, I moved up in weight – not just talking about it. I’m going to do it again. Cementing my own legacy. I’m just worried about me right now. That’s the thing.” [h/t bjpenn.com]
Jon Jones frequently shares updates about his training and he’s truly filled out his frame for the long-awaited heavyweight debut. Several names have been thrown around. However, the expectation is that he will face off against Stipe Miocic when both men are ready to handle business.
Miocic is likely going to be Jon Jones’ only stop before fighting for the championship belt if he gets past Miocic.
