Steve Kerr Appreciates Antetokounmpo’s Post Game Comments After Bucks Loss: ‘lucky to have Giannis in the league’

Unexpectedly, Miami Heat knocked Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks from the playoffs. Fans anticipated that the Bucks, the top seed in the Eastern Conference, would easily defeat the Heat and advance to the second round. However, Milwaukee’s plans didn’t pan out, and the team was unable to win another championship this year but he sure did leave an impact on the people and one of them is Steve Kerr!

Steve Kerr Appreciates Antetokounmpo’s Post-Game Comments After Bucks Loss: ‘Lucky to have Giannis in the league’

Antetokounmpo was questioned about if he thought this season had been a failure after the No. 1 overall seed Bucks were defeated by the No. 8 seed Miami Heat in the opening round of the NBA playoffs.

“It’s not failure,” he said, launching a viral video segment. “It’s steps to success. There’s always steps to it. Michael Jordan played 15 years. Won six championships. The other nine years was a failure?”

It was the start of a deliberative response, perhaps indicative of Antetokounmpo’s modest upbringing as the son of Nigerian immigrants who lived in Greece. To support their parents, Giannis and his brother Thanasis hawked items for both men and women on Athens’ streets.

Additionally, Antetokounmpo’s response is encouraging for the NBA, sports, and society at large.

One of Giannis’ admirers, Steve Kerr recently shared his thoughts on the Bucks star’s attitude toward defeat. Kerr supported Antetokounmpo and emphasized that every player in the NBA puts in a lot of effort daily to play at a high level. Steve said that losing is actually a chance for athletes to develop rather than a failure.

“My reaction was just how lucky we are to have Giannis in the league,” Kerr said. “Being one of the marquee star of the league, not only for his talent but his humanity, his persepective. He’s so right… These guys work so hard and they put so much into it… Giannis is right. As long as they put in the work and put  in the effort, this is sports at the highest level.”
