Stephen Jones Says He Is Determined to ‘Put a Star’ on Odell Beckham Jr’s Helmet as Dallas Cowboys Step up Their Interest

Although the trade deadline for the 2022 NFL season is now over, teams still have the chance to snap up free agents while the season is going on. There are a number of elite free agents available waiting for the right team to come by. Odell Beckham Jr, Antonio Brown, Daryl Williams are a few high-profile free agents in the market right now. 

Out of the aforementioned names, ‘OBJ’ is without a doubt the most sought-after free agent in the league right now, with a number of teams interested in the Dallas Cowboys being one such team. In a recent interview, Stephen Jones, owner, and CEO of the Cowboys, shared his thoughts on potentially adding Odell Beckham Jr to his roster. 

Odell Beckham Jr to Dallas Cowboys all but a done deal?

He said,”He played against Odell most of his career when he was with the Giants, and he’s one of those guys that, he can hurt you and I know he made a bunch of big plays against us. And he’s a free agent out there and certainly a guy that you have to be looking into. Certainly, we’re always open to making our team better.” 

Jones continued, “To have a guy like Odell Beckham if he’s recovered from his knee, which it sounds like he has, is a great way to make your team better. So it’s natural that we would have interest in that. And certainly, like any free agent, he can go anywhere he wants in terms of all 32. But we want to make our compelling case. And certainly at the end of the day it’s about business as well. So we’ll just roll up our sleeves and see if there’s an opportunity for us to put a star on Odell’s helmet.”

Last year, ‘OBJ’ played a crucial role in the Rams road to a Super Bowl win. Although he did not play much during the regular season, in the postseason, Odell Beckham Jr put his years of experience on display. He is currently set to be healthy in a month or so after which he can sign for a team.
