Stephen Curry & Klay Thompson Respond To Charles Barkley’s Critique, Warriors Win Spoke Louder!

Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors has endured a lot over the past few years, missing more than two full seasons due to catastrophic injuries. After 941 days without participating in an NBA game, his return to the floor in January 2022 was welcomed by the whole league. For Thompson, who has obviously lost defensive ground since hurting his ACL and Achilles, it hasn’t been easy.

On Tuesday night, however, Thompson was ejected for the first time in his career after arguing with Phoenix Suns player Devin Booker. In his 19 minutes of playing time, Thompson struggled, scoring just two points on 1-8 field goal tries and missing all five of his three-point attempts.

Following the game, Hall of Famer and NBA pundit Charles Barkley criticized Klay Thompson, claiming the four-time NBA champion was “not the same guy.”

Barkley said the pair were “slipping,” although not finished. “When I watch the Warriors play, I say oh man, Father Time is knocking on the door of a couple of those guys,” Barkley said. “I think you saw tonight he’s like ‘this young boy is kicking my ass, ain’t nothing I can do about it.’ There was a time when Klay Thompson was the best two-way guard in the NBA and he’s not the same guy and that’s because of injuries. Is he done? No, I don’t think he’s done. I think he’s slowing down and it’s catching up with him, that’s why he’s frustrated.”

Stephen Curry defends Klay Thompson!

After Golden State defeated the Miami Heat 123-110 on Thursday, Stephen Curry immediately defended his Warriors colleague Klay Thompson.

The current NBA Finals MVP took issue at remarks made earlier in the week regarding Thompson by “Inside the NBA” pundit Charles Barkley from the Chase Center podium, discreetly ridiculing him in the process.

The remarks contribute to our success, And people will pay attention when you use specific names, Curry said to reporters following Thursday’s victory. “But it’s interesting because certain guys forget what their careers looked like on the back end.

“So you can kind of cast and throw those stones, but Klay’s still in here, like you, said, helping us win a championship after the two hellish years that he had.”

Thompson Responded To Barkley’s critique

“Someone like Charles Barkley, with the platform he has, says you’re not the same player prior to the injuries you had. It’s like, ‘No duh, man…. I tore my ACL and Achilles in consecutive years, and I still helped a team win a championship,” Klay Thompson said.

“It hurt hearing that cause it’s like, man, I put in so much freaking effort to get back to this point. It’s hard to put into words what I had to do to be the player I am today.”
