Steelers Fans Are Pumped Knowing Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada Is Fired

Over the course of the 2023 season, Canada came to represent Pittsburgh’s offensive woes, which culminated in the team’s 13–10 loss to the Browns on Sunday.

The Steelers, who are tied with the Titans and Patriots for the second-worst overall touchdown total in the NFL with 15, are just ahead of the Jets (10).

In more than 80 years, the Steelers have not changed their head coach during the season until now. As per Paul Hembekides and Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Steelers haven’t sacked a coordinator or coach in the midst of the season since 1941.

After losing the first two games of the season, coach and part-owner Bert Bell resigned, effectively firing himself, under pressure from his co-owner Art Rooney.

For many teams, the Steelers’ 6-4 record would be cause to hang onto their offensive coordinator. You may never witness a more ugly 6-4 record, though, as players and fans alike focused on Canada as the reason behind it.

Running backs coach Eddie Faulkner and quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan will collaborate in the vacant coordinator position, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Since joining the NFL in 2002, Sullivan, 56, has had a variety of positions. Among them were offensive coordinator for the Buccaneers from 2012 to 2013 and the GIants from 2016 to 2017.

This Steelers squad has outperformed the sum of its parts through ten games. Kenny Pickett, the quarterback, has struggled, and offensive weapons like George Pickens and Najee Harris have recently voiced dissatisfaction with their place in Canada’s plans. Nevertheless, despite constantly and historically being outgained, they have managed to pull off victories.

Well the Tweets on X show how hyped and happy the Steelers fans are!
