First baseman Spencer Torkelson of the Detroit Tigers had a difficult game against the Kansas City Royals, and on Monday night, he made headlines when he yelled at a home plate umpire.

Torkelson went 0 for 4 while striking out twice as the Tigers defeated them 6-4. However, in the bottom of the seventh inning, Torkelson seemed to take issue with umpire Will Little’s strike zone. Torkelson was down one run when Taylor Clarke of the Royals’ pitching called him out on strikes with a changeup.

Spencer voiced his disapproval of the call right away.
He said, “Oh my f—king god,” as the field microphone captured his annoyance with Will Little, the home plate umpire.
“The f—k are you looking at?”

The pitch seemed to be a strike according to the strike zone on the broadcast, and MLB’s pitch chart confirmed this.
Torkelson had a discouraging evening overall, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
Torkelson’s at-bat was followed by a three-run home run by outfielder Kerry Carpenter, who helped Detroit win the game 6-4.

Despite umpires appearing to be willing to eject anyone who raises their voice at them this season, Spenser strolled back to the bench in amazement and wasn’t sent out.
Torkelson was taken by Detroit as the first overall choice in the 2020 draft. In 2022, he made his major league debut, and in 2023, he started at first base.

Torkelson has batted in 70 games.with eight home runs and a.700 OPS, 231 runs. His eight homers match last season’s total through 110 games.
