Boerne Champion, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound middle linebacker from Texas, is the seventh player signed to CU’s 2024 recruiting class. He is another talented two-sport athlete who excels in baseball and football.
With 154 total tackles (7.5 for loss), eight hurries, four forced fumbles, one sack, one blocked field goal, and forced safety in his final year, Goldberg was an unstoppable force. He is thrilled to be playing under Coach Prime, who was his father’s teammate on the Atlanta Falcons beginning in the early nineties.

His Sunday devotion is akin to a full-circuite reunion!
Early in the 1990s, the elder Goldberg performed in Atlanta with Sanders. His kid will now play for Boulder’s Coach Prime, almost 25 years later.
Buffs Beat of the Sports Illustrated network claims it was the final straw in Gage’s decision.
“My dad’s advice was go to the program that stands out to you the most and the one you know that you will love. I already know at this moment that I will love Colorado and it will also be great to be learning from one of my dad’s best friends ever.”

Goldberg relied on his father’s advice while applying for jobs. Though they’ve gone through it together, it’s a far different experience than the WWE Hall of Famer’s late 1980s commitment to Georgia. He declined other offers, one of which was to attend CU from Alabama.
According to 247Sports, Goldberg is the 29th player to commit to Colorado’s 2024 combined class, which is rated 21st overall. Additionally, he is the 12th defensive acquisition the Buffaloes have signed for the next season.
