In an alleged murder-suicide, the son of a former Red Sox Player George Scott and his 8-year-old kid were discovered dead in a New Bedford residence, according to investigators.

According to CBS Boston, police checked on the health of George C. Scott III, 54, and his son Dante Hazard on Friday morning. According to officials, the two people who had been residing in the house on Phillips Road were discovered dead inside. According to a news release from the Bristol District Attorney, a relative who had been unable to contact the father sought the well-being check.

The son of former Red Sox first baseman George Scott reportedly killed his eight-year-old kid in their Massachusetts home before committing himself, according to reports from law enforcement.

The office of Bristol District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III informed the newspaper Friday night that Scott and his young son Dante Hazard were discovered dead inside the home.

“Mr. Scott, who is believed to have killed the boy before taking his own life, was living at the Phillips Road home with the boy,” Gregg Miliote, a DA spokesperson, told The Globe.

According to WCVB, authorities claimed Scott looked to have slain his child with a sharp weapon before killing himself.

According to the authorities, Dante Hazard is the son of Lisa Hazard and George Scott III. According to a news release from the Bristol District Attorney, Scott is a person of interest in the disappearance of Hazard, who has been missing since 2019.

Hazard, who is now 28 years old, was last seen in New Bedford on March 3. According to the Bristol District Attorney, she was intended to attend a drug rehabilitation facility at the time she was residing on South Main Street in Falls Street.

The Bristol District Attorney stated that the inquiry is active and ongoing.
