SNL Performs Draymond Green Choking Skit, Gets Roasted For Suspension

With Draymond Green, it has reached the point where, following yet another incident on the court, a parody on Saturday Night Live seemed inevitable, as the show has done with several players.

In this instance, Rudy Gobert’s chokehold resulted in a five-game NBA suspension and a humorous three minutes on Saturday’s episode of Weekend Update. Devon Walker, a cast member, played Green, who was asked by Michael Che if he was sorry. Walker responded, “I can’t wait to do it again.”

Due to his most recent on-court outburst, the Golden State Warriors star received a five-game suspension.

When Walker (as Green) began by thanking Che for allowing him to publicly repent, Che said, “Okay, so you’re sorry?”

“Hell no. I can’t wait to do it again,” Walker replied.

“I had a reason, all right? Rudy Gobert is a tall Frenchman who’s been pissing me off for years. Imagine if you had a 7-foot baguette in your face. You would want to do something too.”

He continued by saying that he thought the suspension and the circumstances had been exaggerated.

“I was trying to kill him. So, if you think about it, Che, I showed restraint,” he said.

The Warriors’ next three games against the Houston Rockets on Monday, the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday, and the San Antonio Spurs on Friday will be without the actual Draymond Green.

Green’s antics against Gobert have become so well-known that, although the Warriors previously knew this, he is now included in comic parodies in mainstream media.

In the past, the NBA and the Warriors have both suspended Green three times.

He received two suspensions last season: one for drawing 16 technical fouls and another for stomping on Domantas Sabonis’ chest during the playoffs.

Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Warriors, thinks the NBA made the correct choice.

“He took it too far,” Kerr said before the Warriors’ 128-109 loss to the Thunder on Thursday. “Draymond was wrong. He knows that. It’s a bad look, and the five games are deserved.”

Green’s averages in nine games this season are 8.8 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.1 rebounds.
