Skip Bayless slams Michael Jordan, calls Bulls legend the ‘worst NBA owner ever’
Very few basketball players can reach the level of Michael Jordan’s NBA playing career. The NBA legend won multiple honours in his heyday and helped the Chicago Bulls to six NBA Championships. It’s very hard to criticize Jordan when it comes to basketball and the NBA but analyst Skip Bayless has seemed to find a loophole. According to Bayless, who is a massive fan of Jordan’s contribution to basketball on the court, he believes that the NBA icon is one of the worst NBA owners in the history of the league.
What did Skip Bayless say about Michael Jordan’s ownership of the Charlotte Hornets?
Jordan took majority ownership of the Charlotte Hornets in 2010 and when he did so, many NBA fans believed that his team would begin reflecting the personality and hunger he showed on the court. However, it’s safe to say that things have not gone according to play and the Hornets have failed to meet expectations for more than a decade now.
Since Jordan became the Charlotte Hornets owner, they’ve gone 396-545 (.421) and only the New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Minnesota Timberwolves, Orlando Magic and Sacramento Kings have had a worse record in the past 12 years. The Hornets have been unsuccessful in their attempt to win the Eastern Conference and despite a second-place finish back in 2018-19, they failed to capitalize on moving forward. More so, after Jordan’s involvement with the team, the Hornets have nothing to be proud of for their minus-2,653-point differential.

Hence, NBA analyst Skip Bayless has hammered Jordan for his unsuccessful stint as an NBA owner. The 70-year-old sports commentator, on his show, said, “Michael Jordan has clearly proven to be the worst owner and operator of an NBA franchise ever. The worst GM, the worst team builder ever. I guess we will have to call this Jordan the W.O.A.T. — worst of all time.”
Bayless then recalled the players that the Hornets signed and how they missed out on landing some of the top players in the NBA over the past decade or so. “Michael Jordan is the man who took Adam Morrison over Brandon Roy. He took Kemba (Walker) over Klay (Thompson) and Kawhi (Leonard). Michael took Michael Kidd-Gilchrist over Bradley Beal, Cody Zeller over Giannis (Anteokounmpo), Noah Vonleh over Zach LaVine, and Frank Kaminsky over Devin Booker. He even took Malik Monk over Donovan Mitchell.”
The NBA analyst concluded by stating that the reason why Jordan is failing at ownership is due to the fact that a great player often doesn’t understand Draft players.
