Skip Bayless explains why Tony Pollard should start over Ezekiel Elliott at RB for Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have a bye in Week 9, which will allow them to recover and recharge. The Cowboys will play the Green Bay Packers in Week 10 following their bye week.
Ezekiel Elliott is set to return for that game, and he will almost certainly start. Elliott is paid too much to be benched this early, but he needs to improve his numbers because Pollard is on his tail.
Last week, Tony Pollard substituted in for the injured Ezekiel Elliott as the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Chicago Bears. Pollard had a fantastic game, and as a result, many people have begun to question Elliott’s worth to the Cowboys.
Pollard had 14 rushing attempts for 131 yards and three touchdowns against the Bears. Skip Bayless, a longtime supporter of Ezekiel Elliott, now says that the Cowboys should give Tony Pollard more snaps. On Undisputed, Skip Bayless said the following about Ezekiel Elliott:
Should the Cowboys start Tony Pollard at RB over Ezekiel Elliott?
"Pollard is special and criminally underutilized. Zeke’s best days are behind him and if he stays on the path he's going, he won't be in the league next year." — @RealSkipBayless pic.twitter.com/c0a33ItnDK

Bayless said, “We’re talking about the offense and it looked different on Sunday against all of the Bears. I got it but it looks different because Tony Pollard is special Tony Pollard is criminally underutilized he is now stuck as the backup running back the clear number two to Ezekiel Elliott who is a favorite like a son to Jerry Jones who overpaid him and will not give it up he will not swallow his pride and let go of the fact that Zeke to this day is the highest paid running back in pro football.”
The analyst then added, “He earned it for the first three years then he got paid for what he had done past tense right as opposed to what he was about to do because his production just kept going down down down over the next three years, there was no indication to say that Zeke’s production was going to fall off as it did. Because he was only 23 when he got the contract extension so it wasn’t like he was 25-26 he’s 26 now I think he’s 26 now so there was no reason for Jerry to say man you know what I think Zeke’s best days are behind him as a 23-year-old his best days are unfortunately behind him I used to love him to death we did a commercial together.”
Tony Pollard has been more explosive for the Cowboys than Ezekiel Elliott. Many others, including Skip Bayless, appear to believe Pollard should start. Elliott has 109 carries for 443 yards and four touchdowns so far this season. Elliott must improve his numbers immediately or else he will be the RB2.
