The NBA’s MVP-winning player for the Philadelphia 76ers, Joel Embiid, is closing on a contract to join Skechers as their star spokesperson, according to people familiar with the negotiations. Although a contract has not yet been inked, sources stated that Embiid tried on a Skechers sneaker for the first time on Wednesday during 76ers practice, with representatives from the company there to assist with his fittings. Once the sale closes, Embiid will start sporting the new Skechers sneaker in games, a source has said.

The business apparently moved to alter that on Wednesday. The 76ers center Joel Embiid, the Knicks forward Julius Randle, and the Clippers guard Terance Mann are anticipated to support Skechers’ new basketball division, according to Shams Charania and Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic.

Many people associate Skechers with skateboarders, but the company really makes a broad variety of shoes for walking, jogging, and casual use. They have now made the decision to enter the already crowded basketball shoe industry.

Supporters and onlookers questioned how profitable Joel’s alleged contract actually was.

No matter how big the fictitious check was, some fierce opponents of Skechers declared they couldn’t be convinced, just like Embiid apparently couldn’t be.

Given that Embiid and Skechers appear to be nearing an agreement, an announcement may be forthcoming. Even if Randle and Mann may not have the same impact as Embiid, they still need to start somewhere because so many players already have shoe deals.
