Owens is adamant that he was preoccupied with a training camp at Missouri Western State University, his own mater, and had no idea that Biles was having legendary success at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics at the time they first connected on the app.
“I never once was like, ‘Oh, let me check gymnastics out,'” Owens said.
After discovering Biles on Instagram, Owens swiftly became acquainted with her accomplishments.

“I was like, ‘Man, she got a lot of followers; she must be pretty good,'” Owens on the Vanity Fair interview said.
When the NFL safety asserted his ignorance in a December joint podcast appearance with Biles, it sparked mistrust.
“When she won the Olympics, I was in college, and we didn’t have NBC… So I’m not paying attention,” he stated on the podcast The Pivot.
Biles and Owens got in touch throughout the pandemic.
