“Shushing the Haters GOAT”: Luka Doncic’s Latest ‘Honest’ Statements on His Dagger Celebration Sends NBA Fans Into a Frenzy

After squandering a 25-point lead against Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers, Luka Doncic’s reaction to a crucial 3-pointer that saved Dallas from a defeat was a bit hazy. The Mavericks star collected an errant pass on the sideline and narrowly avoided the shot clock buzzer before giving the home audience the universal “quiet” signal with his index finger to the lips.

Dorian Finney-Smith led the Mavericks with 21 points, and they hung on to win 103-101, preventing what would have been their second defeat this season after being up by at least 22 points.

Doncic recently torched the Clippers for 35 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, leading the Mavs to a 103-101 victory on Tuesday night and giving LA even more reason to wake up in a cold sweat when seeing a matchup against the Mavs on the schedule. This scare adds to all the previous playoff scares Doncic has given the Clippers.

Fans react to Luka Doncic talking about his celebration vs the Clippers

“I wanted a celebration. I don’t know why I did that, honestly. I’m not going to shush our fans, so I don’t know what I was doing,” Luka Doncic said.

Here’s how fans react to his statement:

Given that the game was being played on the Mavs’ home floor, it was strange of Doncic to make a “shush” motion as the ball touched the twine in celebration. When challenged about his choice of an unorthodox celebration following the game, Doncic was just as perplexed as the majority of fans; perhaps he was simply overcome by the excitement.

The victory was as deservedly gained as one can be, though. Luka Doncic nailed an unbelievable left-wing three with the shot clock ticking down over Nicolas Batum’s outstretched arms with just over 30 seconds remaining in the fourth and the Mavs leading by a solitary point.
