“Show Me Something”- Israel Adesanya Assesses Khamzat Chimaev as a Threat as Mike Tyson Offers Advice
Khamzat Chimaev is the center of attention for this week’s PPV event at UFC 273. ‘Borz’ takes on Gilbert Burns in what will be his first top-10 opponent since joining the UFC. However, Chimaev’s plans in the promotion far exceed a win over ‘Durinho’, Chimaev has two weight domination on his mind. The welterweight division, as well as the middleweight division, are two divisions where Chimaev feels he can be a champion.
In a recent podcast with Mike Tyson, UFC’s middleweight champion Israel Adesanya shared his thoughts on Khamzat Chiamev and gave his thoughts on ‘Borz’ as potential threat to his middleweight throne.
He said, “I feel like when the dog barks at the moon, that’s normal, but when the moon barks at the dog, that’s something special. So I was like all right, this guy fights at welterweight, he fought in middleweight one time and he’s fought like a low-ranked guy. And definitely, he can beat some middleweight but I’m like show me something. Show me something he’s like never. His last fight was impressive and said I might not like you, but if I’m impressed by what you do, ill give you props. Yeah, he’s a beast, but he’s a beast at 170lbs.”
Tyon replied, “When I was a champion and these guys they weren’t raised in hell but knocking out guys and saying I want to fight you. I said listen. I mean, you won’t make any money now. But if you really think you are, though, why don’t you come to my spot and become my sparring partner? All my sparring partners were contenders.”
