SHOCKING: Qatari Officials Reportedly Bribe Ecuadorian Players $7.4 Million to Lose the Opening Game of the FIFA World Cup
In a few days from today, the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup will kick off. The event is the single biggest sporting event in terms of viewership and captivates the attention of the entire world. However, this time around, it just does not feel the same. For starters, the competition is taking place in November as opposed to the May-June format that is generally followed.

In addition to that, there are controversies surrounding Qatar and all that has gone on in order for them to host the world cup. It is now well established that Qatari officials bribed FIFA officials in order to secure their votes when deciding the host nation for the 2022 world cup. It was almost guaranteed by most pundits that the winning bid would go to the United States for 2022. In a shocking turn of events, the winning bid for the 2022 World Cup was awarded to Qatar, and the 2026 bid was given to the United States of America.

In addition to this, there were multiple reports of human rights violations coming out of construction camps as a number of migrant workers were made to work as slaves in order to finish the construction of multiple new stadiums in time for the word cup to begin.

In yet another shocking turn of events, reports now suggest that there is an ongoing investigation into a match fixing scandal on the very first game of this tournament. The opening game will see the host nation, Qatar take on Ecuador in what will be a closely fought game. Rumors suggest that Qatar officials bribed up to eight players from the Ecuadorian team to lose the opening game to the host nation.
