Shaquille O’Neal shares his message to Angel Reese WNBA post-draft: ‘I’m proud of you’
Caitlin Clark, the newly acquired player for the Indiana Fever, maybe the biggest star in the WNBA and female basketball right now. The former Iowa Hawkeye was chosen first overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft and is about to sign a huge endorsement contract with Nike. She is not the only star, though.
A tremendous legend at LSU, Angel Reese made her impact in the WNBA Draft of 2024 when the Chicago Sky selected her as the seventh overall choice. The basketball community has taken notice of her talent and praised her, especially Shaquille O’Neal, the great man. He is so highly regarded by her, seeing him as a “father figure” in both her personal and professional life.

Ever since learning that Reese was a WNBA player, Shaq has been a supporter of her career. He recently discussed his friendship with Reese and his reaction when that information leaked to People Magazine.

“The first thing I told her is I was proud of her. I am described as Angel’s understandable ear…I know things that she went through, I know what she’s going through, I know what’s about to happen to her, and I could give her advice.”

It was always expected that Reese would join the Sky, and she naturally became one of the standout names from this year’s draft.

The other talented player, Kamilla Cardoso, will play with her. The player, who was born in Maryland, also changed her moniker from “Bayoux Barbie” to “Chi Barbie” ahead of the new campaign.
“Some people that reached out to me, the love from Chicago is running deep and going crazy,” Reese said.
