Serge Ibaka & Kendrick Perkins: Beef Begins On Age Shaming
Kendrick Perkins made a joke about Serge Ibaka being older than he claims, which sparked Ibaka to respond extensively on Twitter.
Ibaka then went off-topic and brought up their time playing together at OKC and Perkins’ prior criticism of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant.
It was obvious that the man needed to vent.
Kendrick Perkins’ “joke” regarding Serge Ibaka’s age, in Serge Ibaka’s opinion, is not amusing.
The ESPN analyst made a remark about Serge Ibaka’s age on Monday’s episode of “First Take,” which the Bucks forward obviously didn’t like.
Serge Ibaka is not happy with Kendrick Perkins' joke about his age.
It quickly turned into a venting session from Serge on Perk's "leadership" during their days with Oklahoma City. pic.twitter.com/IOT1tGiyXz

What did Kendrick Perkins say?
Perkins compared the current Celtics to the Thunder squad that advanced to the NBA Finals in 2012 while analysing which NBA clubs had the most to lose this season.
Perkins remarked, “We were a youthful team that really made it to the NBA Finals. You know what everyone kept saying, right? Oh, I forgot to mention that Kevin Durant is only 23. Westbrook is only 22 years old. Age 22 is James Harden.
“Serge Ibaka is 21, but given how some people may lie about their ages, he was possibly 30 at the time. But that is not the topic at hand.
Did you say spreading lies at @sergeibaka ? Please don’t get me started homie!!!! Please don’t. I’m not about to talk about those OKC days and what you were doing in that locker room. I will not… but you definitely need to stop because you know I KNOW!!!! Carry on tho…

What did Serge Ibaka say?
Serge Ibaka, 33, responded to a “First Take” segment footage that has since been removed from Twitter. He had also addressed age-related accusations five years prior, stating that Africans “need to take a stand” against claims that are “based on prejudices,” as The Athletic’s Law Murray pointed out.
Serge Ibaka, who was born on September 18, 1989, in the Republic of the Congo, stated on Twitter that it was “disappointing to hear someone I shared a locker room with spewing disinformation in an effort to be relevant and garner attention on TV and social media.

He continued by saying that while he will always be open to criticism of his play on the court, Perkins’ “unfounded” claims about his age were “not acceptable.”
Then, according to Serge Ibaka, Perkins violated Oklahoma City’s “locker room code” by “spreading lies” about Durant and Westbrook.
Ibaka tweeted, “You attacked [Durant] when he played poorly behind his back, and you criticised [Westbrook] when he played poorly.
Ibaka tweeted to end the thread, “I understand everyone needs to do their work and take care of their family, but you are proof not everybody knows how to do it with style and decency. I could talk about you more, but I’m not that way. This time, though, you went too far.”
