Saquon Barkley Slams Former Giants RB For “Dead To Me” Comment
It doesn’t appear like Saquon Barkley’s deal with the Philadelphia Eagles is going down well in New York.
Saquon Barkley Slams Former Giants RB For “Dead To Me” Comment
On his regular WFAN radio broadcast, former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber voiced his disapproval of Barkley.
Barkley’s decision to accept a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Giants’ bitter rivals, has angered and disappointed supporters.

Barber spent his whole ten-year playing career with the Giants, from 1997 to 2006. Barber had great sentiments for the club and the city 90 miles south during that period because of the intense rivalry between the Eagles and Giants.
The rivalry between the recently retired Giants running back and the new Eagles running back will only get more intense given how dull it has been lately. In the season finale of the previous year, the Giants defeated the Eagles to capture their first victory against Philadelphia in six games.

“He’s dead to us now. He’s dead to us. You’re dead to us, Saquon,” Barber said with a smile and chuckle upon learning the news during the “Evan and Tiki” show. “Good luck. You’re dead to me.”
Barkley responded to the clip on X and took aim at Barber, who told ESPN that the comment was made tongue-in-cheek. The future Eagles running back didn’t take it that way.
Barkley reposted the video with the comment: “lol yup you’re the prime example of loyalty to a team.. I got the deal I wanted, secured more gm which wasn’t given to me before… so if fans are gonna hate me for that so be it! But I never turned my back on my teammates and always had theirs”

Barkley only has one postseason victory on his record, but he departs New York fourth on the all-time running chart.
After spending six seasons with the Giants, Barkley, 27, accepted a lucrative new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. According to sources who spoke with ESPN, he signed a three-year contract worth $37.5 million, with $26 million completely guaranteed.

Why did the Giants let Barkley go?
When the Giants offered him a contract with $23 million in guaranteed money a year ago, he turned it down and decided to accept the $10.1 million franchise tag. The Giants made it obvious that they would not give him the amount he desired.
Was Barkley a free agent?
Barkley was placed on the short list of the major free-agent acquisitions alongside Nick Foles, Jon Runyan, and Troy Vincent by the Eagles, who pounced and named Barkley the highest-paid running back in team history.
