To compound New York’s woes, Giants quarterback Daniel Jones suffered a neck injury in the fourth quarter after being struck from behind by Andrew Van Ginkel. Jones told reporters after the game that his neck hurts and that an MRI on Monday will disclose additional information about the problem. According to NFL Media, there is still optimism that Jones may escape major harm.

According to Barkley, the fan was shouting at Daniel Jones, who had a neck injury and was sitting in the sideline medical tent.

“You have a fan just ‘motherf–king’ him. That just doesn’t sit well with me,” Barkley said after he was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice with an ankle injury. “He’s helpless. He can’t do nothing.”

Barkley and Jones have been teammates since 2019 and are the organization’s faces.

The New York Giants lost their third game in a row on Sunday, falling 31-16 to Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins. The offence has struggled in Year 2 of Brian Daboll’s tenure, with the Giants being only the sixth team since 1991 to go five games without scoring a single first-half offensive touchdown.

Barkley reacted to the article, recognizing that Giants players’ criticism of fans has been a delicate subject in light of teammate Evan Neal’s dismissive remarks about “fair-weather” fans.

“Stop reaching and trying to make it a me vs fans thing,” Barkley wrote. ‘“Im not gonna just sit there and not say anything while you talk crazy to 8 after he just got hurt… buddy knew he was in the wrong.”

“I get it. I was a fan of football before,” Barkley told reporters. “That’s not in my makeup. That’s not in my character to boo and do stuff like that. But, fans, if you don’t like the product that we’re doing out there—we got to give them a product to be happy about.”
