San Francisco 49ers’ Dre Greenlaw Fantasy: LB NFL Defensive Data, Stats & Speculations 2022
Player Outlook
In the 49ers’ defeat to the Rams in the NFC Championship Game, Greenlaw suffered a hamstring injury. The team has not yet provided any updates on the possible starting linebacker.
Due to injuries, the 25-year-old played in just six games last season (including the playoffs), despite making a total of 178 tackles in each of his first two NFL seasons. If in good health, Greenlaw will face off against Azeez Al-Shaair for the starting weakside linebacker position in DeMeco Ryans’ nickel-heavy defense.
Dre Greenlaw might end up being far more valuable than his current late-round ADP. During his debut season in 2019, he replaced Kwon Alexander as the starter when the latter suffered an injury.

Last year, Greenlaw scored his first defensive touchdown with a pick-six off Jared Goff in week 1’s game against the Detroit Lions. After having groin surgery, he was put on injured reserve on September 18, 2021. On November 27, he was put into service.

When all the data were added up, Greenlaw had played on 73% of the snaps and had a record of 65-27-1. In 2022, Greenlaw, who is in good health, will take over as the three-down weak side linebacker.
With two sacks and two interceptions on around 1650 plays, Greenlaw has not yet displayed any splash-play ability, but basic math tells us that, on a per-snap basis, he has been just as effective as Warner in the tackle columns.
