Russell Wilson labeled most ‘disappointing QB’ after horrendous start to Denver Broncos career

Russell Wilson has had a nightmare of a start to life at his new team, Denver Broncos. The quarterback left the Seattle Seahawks to join the Broncos in the offseason. But to say that he hasn’t lived up to the hype and expectation in Denver would be an understatement. In fact, he has been deemed the most disappointing quarterback of the season by NFL.com.

Wilson spent 10 years with the Seahawks and guided them to two consecutive Super Bowls, winning one title with Seattle. The veteran quarterback is widely regarded as one of the best dual-threat playmakers in NFL history but has failed to get the best out of himself in his first year with the Broncos.

Russell Wilson’s underwhelming stats for Denver Broncos

As we head into Week 13 of the 2022-23 NFL season, Wilson has played in 10 games for the Broncos and managed a mere 2,369 passing yards and eight passing touchdowns while adding 137 rushing yards and one touchdown so far.

Wilson is averaging a quarterback rating of 82.3 with just a 58.9% pass completion rate. To add to that, he has thrown 5 interceptions as well.

The problems that Wilson is facing at Denver seem to be bigger than just his stats. His basic reading of the game appears to have taken a toll, especially when he is having a defender closing the space for him. Wilson is a nine-time Pro Bowler and no slouch, but his displays have been worrying this season.

According to some, Wilson’s current season with the Broncos may cause experts to snub him from entering the Hall of Fame. To make matters worse, the Broncos are plumb last in the AFC West with only three wins and eight defeats. This is primarily due to their poor offense that is led by Wilson.

The Broncos are all but out of the playoffs but it remains to be seen whether Wilson can find his feet in the closing stages of the campaign. This could help the organization decide whether he should remain on the team next season.
