Russell Wilson Injury: Broncos QB Suffers Concussion & Loses Consciousness
Russell Wilson, the quarterback for the Denver Broncos, is currently dealing with a concussion that may affect whether or how much he plays in the team’s remaining four games of the season. This season, nearly nothing on offence has gone as planned.
When Wilson was pounded to the ground at the conclusion of a 13-yard scramble with 11 minutes, and 45 seconds left to play, he was forced to exit Sunday’s 34-28 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at Empower Field at Mile High.
After being examined for a potential concussion, he was quickly declared ineligible.

“(He was) putting his body on the line, man. We can say all we want — we’re 3-9, they’re 9-3 and the guy is out there battling his ass off, trying to win the game,” Broncos backup quarterback Brett Rypien said. “That to me is somebody I want to follow.”

Wilson is formally in the league’s concussion protocol, according to coach Nathaniel Hackett, who made this statement following the game.
When Wilson was hurt, the Broncos were attempting to close the 27-0 second-quarter deficit to one point. Wilson brought the ball down and dashed to the 2 on a third-and-11 from the Chiefs’ 16-yard line.

Watch his face distort from the impact, then imagine his brain changing shape in the same way, stretching & likely tearing the more vulnerable long axons. Let's hope for a good recovery. pic.twitter.com/iZcpDV96Mw— Chris Nowinski, Ph.D. (@ChrisNowinski1) December 12, 2022
Russell Wilson was enjoying one of his greatest games of the season before he was forced to leave the game due to a concussion.
With 23 of his 36 throws completed, he gained 247 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. On four carries, he added 57 yards of running. Out of the 12 games he played, his quarterback rating of 100.1 was the fourth highest he’s had all season. He threw for 247 yards, which was the fifth-highest in a game, and three touchdowns, which is the most this season.
