Rumor Has It That Yankees Might Trade For Shohei Ohtani & Here’s What Fans Have To Say

Without star outfielder Aaron Judge, who has been sidelined since early June with a ruptured ligament in his toe, the Yankees are struggling to keep their season together in the AL East. To keep New York in the playoff race, a drastic move may be necessary. Possibly, enter Shohei Ohtani.

Rumor Has It That Yankees Might Trade For Shohei Ohtani & Here’s What Fans Have To Say

Ohtani, the all-around star of the Angels, is expected to become a free agent this winter. Los Angeles may opt to trade him in an effort to at least receive something in return. The team may decide to do this specifically if it anticipates that Ohtani will leave after the current campaign.

With only one roster slot available, any contender would be thrilled to get an exceptional hitter and pitcher, but ESPN’s Buster Olney thinks the New York Yankees would be especially keen to sign the AL MVP front-runner.

The ESPN insider claimed that if Ohtani were to be placed up for trade, the Yankees would be “the most motivated” to acquire him on Thursday’s Get Up.

“You bring in Ohtani, suddenly the Yankees rotation with him involved looks so strong,” Olney said. “Ohtani hitting in Yankee Stadium, which favors left-handed sluggers, that’s something I’m sure the Yankees would be willing to pay for if Ohtani is made available by the Angels.”

“This is the Yankees’ window to win now. You bring in Ohtani and, suddenly, the Yankees’ rotation with him involved looks so strong. Ohtani hitting in Yankee Stadium, which favors left-handed sluggers. That’s something I’m sure the Yankees would be willing to pay for if Ohtani is made available by the Angels,” Olney explained.

The Angels may be more eager than ever to offload the generational Ohtani as they hover around.500 and fade farther from the postseason picture. After all, if he leaves in free agency, it would be the final opportunity to do so before getting nothing in exchange.

In light of this, ESPN’s Buster Olney speculated that the Yankees are the team most eager to acquire Shohei when the trade deadline arrives later this month.

Ohtani is hitting this year.71 RBI, 11 stolen bases, 32 home runs, and 302 total bases. He has pitched over 100 and a third innings and has a 3.32 ERA in his 7-4 season on the mound.
