Rumor Has It That Patrick Mahomes Is Under Investigation By NFL For PED Use During Halftime

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles and won Super Bowl LVII after trailing by more than ten points in the first half. However, some social media users believe the Chiefs’ victory may be invalidated as the QB Mahomes is suspected to have taken PED during halftime!

Rumor Has It That Patrick Mahomes Is Under Investigation By NFL For PED Use During Halftime

“#BREAKING: Chiefs Super Bowl legitimacy put on hold as NFL plans to launch an investigation on possible PED (performance-enhancing drug) use by Patrick Mahomes during halftime,” a Feb. 12 tweet claimed. “Sources confirm his rapid postgame drug test came back POSITIVE and if guilty the Chiefs could be stripped of the win.”

This tweet was posted by a user who identified themselves as a “eminent sports writer,” yet it seems to be satirical. The profile photo for the Twitter account was stolen from a blog post about headshots. The Boston Globe logo is visible beneath the profile photo, but Simon Charles is not among the employees there.

His assertion appears as improbable as his resume. There is no proof that the National Football League is looking into anyone, including Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, for alleged usage of illegal performance-enhancing substances.

Brian McCarthy, a spokesman for the NFL, deemed the assertion to be “completely incorrect.” The performance-enhancing substance policy of the NFL and the NFL Players Association requires a random selection of five players from each club to undergo drug testing. One of the Chiefs players picked to undergo testing wasn’t Mahomes.

Additionally, there haven’t been any reliable media stories regarding Mahomes being under investigation for alleged drug use.

Mahomes’ high ankle injury from the playoffs, which he was still healing from, was aggravated when he was tackled by an Eagles linebacker at the conclusion of the first half.

According to Sports Illustrated, Mahomes told the team’s staff that he was fine during halftime and declined medical attention for his ankle. Mahomes was able to “push through the agony,” according to Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, and lead the team to victory.
