Roquan Smith Continues To Call Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles A Liar

Over a month ago, Roquan Smith left the Chicago Bears. It put an end to a tenure with the company that was both illustrious and unpredictable. Since Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs left the Bears, the linebacker was unquestionably among the greatest. He had also gained a reputation for being a disruption due to his numerous holdouts, his propensity for loitering on crowded boats during pandemics, and his habit of skipping games for unexplained reasons. At the end of his tenure with the team, he declared GM Ryan Poles to be an outright liar.

Roquan Smith, a linebacker with the Baltimore Ravens, spoke candidly about his trade from the Chicago Bears in a recent interview. He asserted that he was informed he wouldn’t be traded.

As soon as Ryan Poles became general manager, Smith claimed that he was brought into his office and informed that the defence would be centred around the All-Pro linebacker and that Poles would also offer him a contract extension.

But Smith skipped practice and asked for a move when contract talks broke down during preseason.

“I thought Poles would ship me out, but he told me numerous times, ‘I don’t plan to trade you at all,’” Smith told The Athletic. “I guess I won’t be going anywhere,” I thought. He said we’d talk at the end of the season.”

The Bears traded Smith to the Ravens at the trade deadline for a pair of draft picks and Smith couldn’t be happier to be with a contending team that will appreciate him and want him long-term.

That remains the same. Roquan Smith is getting along well with the Baltimore Ravens, his new squad. They have one of the league’s top defences and are 9-4. The linebacker is putting himself in a position to land that lucrative contract he so much desires.

It goes without saying that Roquan Smith wants to be the NFL’s highest-paid player at his position. After talks fell down in the summer, many insiders reported that the Bears’ offer was reasonable. Smith obviously disagreed. During his conversation with Dan Pompei of The Athletic, he reiterated this point in great detail.
