Richard Sherman Says Coach Bills Belichick Gets Away With A Lot Of Things

Bill Belichick, the head coach of the New England Patriots, is widely recognized as one of the best coaches in history. Belichick, a six-time Super Bowl victor, has aided the Patriots dynasty for more than 15 years. Since quarterback Tom Brady departed the franchise for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the squad has undergone some rebuilding. And now Richard Sherman is calling the coach out!

The New England Patriots, on the other hand, made one of the most perplexing choices. The Patriots decided to release two backup quarterbacks, Bailey Zappe and Malik Cunningham, with Week 1 just around the corner. Both had moments of promise, with Zappe even appearing to be able to replace the starter last season, and Cunningham appearing to be the next great Patriot weapon, but they both fell short of their potential.

According to Richard Sherman of Undisputed, this move would be viewed as “crazy” if it were made by any other coach in the league but Bill Belichick.

Sherman blasted the illustrious coach on his Fox Sports program Undisputed. “When Belichick does something crazy that we would say is crazy when other coaches do it — like if Kyle Shanahan took his defensive coordinator and made him his offensive coordinator, or made his special teams coach his quarterbacks coach, you would say ‘what are you doing? You’ve lost your mind.’” Sherman said on the show.

He said that Belichick has experienced difficulty leading the Pats after Tom Brady. Since Tom Left, he has a 500 record. You judged Tom when he left, you said if he can’t win without Belichick, then it was Belichick. And what did Brady do? He won a Super Bowl the first season that he left.”

Richard Sherman, unsurprisingly, is among those who think that Belichick hasn’t been particularly effective without Brady. Nobody can truly dispute that this has been the case. Belichick was a poor NFL head coach even before he started tutoring Brady.

Because of his position in the game, in Sherman’s opinion, Belichick often escapes criticism. The Philadelphia Eagles, the reigning NFC Champions, will face the Patriots to open the campaign.
