Rich Eisen Gets Cut For A Commercial, Gets Mad At NFL For It

Rich Eisen, a longtime NFL Network anchor and analyst, was not going to give the league a free pass.

One quip made by Eisen, who was on the call for Saturday’s Colts-Steelers game, during the broadcast, spoke for every fan.

Running back Najee Harris of the Steelers lost the ball during the third quarter, but the referees on the field concluded that he was down by contact. Indianapolis contested this decision and ultimately prevailed.

As replays of the disputed turnover were shown by NFL Network, and play-by-play analyst Eisen clarified what he perceived as a fumble, Indianapolis contested the ruling.

However, the network controlled by the league was switching to commercials while events played out on the replays and the Colts’ final challenge.

And Eisen did not seem too thrilled about what was happening.

However, Eisen’s fan side emerged when NFL Network chose to go to a commercial while the play replays were being broadcast. The NFL, however, would prefer that we take a break rather than update you on the situation. Thus, we’ll discuss it when we return,” Eisen added.

The play-by-play guy did not agree with the choice.

Kurt [Warner], I mean, just gotta bring this up. You don’t want Boswell to kick one from 50-something yards. Instead, you’re going to punt? Down 11 with 18 minutes and change to go. Boswell looked like he was ready to get out there, instead, you’re gonna give it back. … So we’ll see how that strategy plays out.”

Not everything went as planned for the Steelers, who were shut out the rest of the way and took out starting quarterback Mitch Trubisky late in the fourth quarter for backup Mason Rudolph.

Fans have had varied feelings about Eisen’s analysis of the Colts-Steelers game, but this was an excellent statement. Almost all fans have experienced the frustration of missing crucial moments in the past due to the decisions made by professional sports leagues and broadcast networks.
