Reports: Jonathan Taylor Is Back In Westfield, But Not Seen At Practice

The penultimate morning session of training camp before joint practices with the Bears and Eagles was held on Tuesday, but the Colts’ All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor was not there. He was the only injured Colts player not there for practice; everyone else, including Ryan Kelly, Braden Smith, Drew Ogletree, Jelani Woods, and Mo Alie-Cox, was there.

“He’s rehabbing,” Colts coach Shane Steichen said. “I’m not going to go into any specifics, but like I said last week, once he’s out here, he’ll be out here.”

This season, Jonathan Taylor ought to play a significant role in the Colts’ offence. The running back has missed training camp while receiving more care for his injured ankle. However, there could be some welcome news soon.

Jonathan Taylor, a running back with the Indianapolis Colts, allegedly joined the team again on Monday but is still on the active/PUP list, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Taylor underwent surgery on his ankle in January, and he has been away from the squad for almost a week while he continues his rehabilitation. Since the offseason operation, the star running back has not been on the practice field.

Jonathan Taylor, who underwent arthroscopic debridement in January, is currently on the PUP list as he recovers. The star of the Indianapolis Colts must decide if he will participate in team practices when he rejoins the squad and he decided to remain absent.

“I don’t have an answer for that and a timetable on that,” Steichen said. “But really looking forward to getting him back and getting him healthy and getting him back out there playing with the guys.”

Taylor is in the fourth year of a rookie deal worth $7.8 million that spans four years and was signed when he was a rookie. Taylor is a notable athlete who was named an All-Pro in 2021.

Since he arrived at training camp on July 25, Taylor has been on the list of individuals who are physically unable to perform. He asked the Colts for a trade the same week after they made no proposals to extend his rookie contract, which is due to pay him $4.03 million in the deal’s final year.

He chose to do his rehabilitation off-site last week, thus he was absent from the group. Steichen had anticipated his return this week, and although he did, it is still unclear when he will begin practising.

Taylor requested a trade from the team last month after speaking with owner Jim Irsay. However, the group has stated that dealing with the All-Pro running back is not in their plans.

Jonathan Taylor started 11 games the previous year and rushed for 861 yards and four touchdowns. After leading the NFL in running yards (1,811) and touchdowns (18) in the previous season, the Pro Bowler did this.

The Colts will operate with a committee backfield until Taylor is available. Zack Moss cannot play since he fractured his arm during practice and will be out at least through the conclusion of the preseason.
