Reports: Fox Doesn’t Plan To Use Tom Brady in Super Bowl Booth

It seemed certain that Tom Brady would participate in Fox Sports’ Super Bowl LVII coverage if he and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers weren’t playing when the network announced in May that they had signed him to become an NFL commentator when his playing career ended.

Since the Buccaneers won’t be playing in the Super Bowl this year, Brady’s calendar will be free as he determines what he will do professionally in the coming season. Brady’s participation in Fox’s coverage of the big game, however, is not currently “planned,” according to Richard Deitsch of The Athletic.

Reports: Fox Doesn’t Plan To Use Tom Brady in Super Bowl Booth

Tom Brady, the quarterback for the Buccaneers, will have a job waiting for him in Fox’s No. 1 broadcast booth whenever he decides to hang up his cleats. However, don’t anticipate seeing him in that capacity on Super Bowl Sunday.

Fox is apparently not considering employing Brady for this year’s big game because Tampa Bay has been eliminated from the playoffs. During the game, the network intends to use Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen from its team. Brady’s participation in the pregame show has not yet been ruled out.

After retiring, Fox and Brady came to a 10-year, $375 million deal for him to take over as the network’s primary analyst. Fox reportedly wanted Brady to work during this year’s Super Bowl if the Buccaneers weren’t scheduled to participate, according to reports from October.

“If he’s not playing in the game, I would expect Brady to be part of Fox’s Super Bowl coverage,” a source told Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports in October. “Definitely. I would be very surprised if he isn’t.”

Brady and the Buccaneers’ season came to an end in Monday’s wild-card round loss to the Cowboys, 31-14. Regarding his plans for the upcoming season, which would be his 24th in the NFL, the 45-year-old has not yet made any declarations.
