REPORT: Former Phoenix Suns Star Set to Play for Los Angeles Lakers’ Summer League Side

The Los Angeles Lakers ended up having an eventful 2022 NBA Draft, despite entering the day without any choices. The Lakers acquired the Orlando Magic’s No. 35 selection in the second round on draught day, and they used it to choose Max Christie from Michigan State. Following the conclusion of the draft, the Lakers wasted no time in signing Cole Swider of Syracuse and Scotty Pippen Jr. of Vanderbilt to two-way contracts as undrafted free agents.

Although there are still some roster places available, all three of those players are anticipated to participate on the Lakers’ Summer League squad. Houston’s Fabian White Jr. fills one of those roster places for the Lakers. The Lakers have also signed R.J. Cole and Paris Bass from UConn in addition to White.

Last December, Bass used the hardship exemption to sign a 10-day deal with the Phoenix Suns. On January 12, he agreed to a second 10-day deal with the Suns. Ten days later, the South Bay Lakers did manage to repurchase Bass. Now, according to a report, the Lakers have landed Bass to their summer league roster.

Los Angeles Lakers sign Paris Bass for summer league

On New Year’s Eve, Bass signed his first 10-day contract with the Suns and participated in two contests. During his five minutes of action on Jan. 2 in Charlotte, the 6-8 forward had four points, two rebounds, and a steal. Bass, who plays for the G-South League’s Bay Lakers, was in his hotel room in Phoenix getting ready to return to Los Angeles when he learned about a second 10-day just before the Suns left for Toronto to start a five-game road trip.

When Bass averaged 17.9 points on 49 percent shooting, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.1 steals over the course of 14 games with South Bay, he was named to the G-League All-Showcase squad. Bass didn’t play much with the Suns since they were a title candidate, but he learned from the sessions. And who knows, maybe he breaks into the Lakers team next season!
