Redbull Puts Team Principal Christian Horner Under Investigation After Allegations Of Inappropriate Behaviour

Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull’s wildly successful Formula 1 racing team, is the subject of an inquiry.

Red Bull described Horner’s investigation—he is the CEO of Oracle Red Bull Racing—as independent in a statement released on Monday. It would not explain why the inquiry was conducted.

Redbull Puts Team Principal Christian Horner Under Investigation After Allegations Of Inappropriate Behaviour

“After being made aware of certain recent allegations, the company launched an independent investigation. This process, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external specialist barrister,” Red Bull said in a statement. “The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as practically possible. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”

The declaration was made following the publication of accusations in the Dutch publication De Telegraaf.

Red Bull led by 50-year-old Horner won 21 of 22 races during a record-breaking 2023 season that saw Max Verstappen win his third world championship.

According to Horner, he “completely denies” the charges.

Red Bull has not acknowledged the specifics of the complaint, but we are aware that it is an accusation of improper and domineering behavior.

Since Red Bull’s debut on the Formula One grid in 2005, Horner has served as the team’s principal. During that time, he has led the team to seven driver titles and six constructor titles.

Red Bull won all but one of the grand prix in the 2023 Formula One Championship, earning Briton Horner a CBE in the New Year’s Honours list last year. Horner was awarded an OBE in 2013.

He raced competitively as a youngster but retired aged 25 and set his sights on managing an F1 team.

Before Verstappen’s 2021–2023 three-peat, Horner, 50, commanded Red Bull from 2005 to 2013. He had a reputation for being a tough guy but also saw remarkable success, winning four drivers’ championships with Sebastian Vettel between 2010 and 2013. Under Horner’s direction, it has won six constructors’ championships.
