Record Breaking Canadian QB Signs With Jacksonville Jaguars to Compete With Trevor Lawrence

After visiting with 12 NFL teams in recent weeks, quarterback Nathan Rourke, who set the CFL record for completion % last season with the B.C. Lions, has decided to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars. There will soon be one more down and one fewer person on the field for Nathan Rourke, the CFL quarterback who established the competition% record for the league. Following his time at Ohio University in college, Rourke was not chosen in 2021.

In 2021, he played a bit for the B.C. Lions, but in 2022, he took over as the starter. He was voted the Most Outstanding Canadian following the 2017 season and is only the third quarterback to get the honor. He was born in Victoria, British Columbia.

Nathan Rourke signs with Jaguars

After concluding the 2022 season with the B.C. Lions, the 24-year-old from Oakville, Ontario, tweeted on Sunday that he will soon sign with Jacksonville, one of the 12 clubs he tried out for. Cleveland, the New York Giants, Kansas City, Cincinnati, L.A. Chargers, Las Vegas, Minnesota, Denver, Indianapolis, Tampa Bay, and Arizona were some of the other teams mentioned.

“I want to apologize for keeping many of you in suspense but my corner and I wanted to make sure we did our due diligence and explored every option thoroughly,” Nathan Rourke said in his statement. “After much prayer and deliberation, I will be signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars.”

The B.C. Lions and the Jacksonville Jaguars have a relationship. Henry Burris, a former quarterback in the Canadian Football League, is the Jaguars’ offensive quality control coach. Last April, he worked as an offensive consultant with the B.C. Lions, although he was only there for two weeks before switching to the Jaguars.
