Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh Provides a Health Update on Lamar Jackson Ahead of Their Upcoming Clash Against the Patriots

The Baltimore Ravens kick-started their 2022 NFL season with a win against the New York Jets. The Ravens then welcomed the Miami Dolphins for what turned out to be one of the best games of the season so far as the Dolphins staged a late comeback and secured a 42-38 win against Lamar Jackson and his men.

After the loss against the Dolphins, the Ravens were back in training on Wednesday. Although Lamar Jackson did partake in training, the former Heisman trophy winner did not throw at all. Additionally, he was spotted wearing a compression sleeve on his throwing arm which is typically utilized by team trainers to stimulate blood flow and minimize joint swelling.

Baltimore fans can now rest easy after a statement put out by the Ravens which provided a health update on their main man. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said, “Just a normal, course-of-the-season type thing. He practiced today so, he’ll play on Sunday.”

Jackson also shared his thoughts on his reported injury and assured that he would be in action on Sunday. He said, “I’m going to throw Sunday — a lot Sunday. I’m good. The [elbow] pad came with the sleeve. It wasn’t added or anything like that. I will be out there Sunday. I’ll be out there in practice [Thursday]. I’m good.”

Lamar Jackson off to a flying start for 2022

Much of the new surrounding Lamar Jackson was around his contract in the pre-season. Reports suggested that Jackson turned down a contract extension with the Ravens that was supposed to be in excess of $200 million. He is now in the last year of his contract and will most likely get franchise tagged by the Ravens if the two parties are not able to reach a mutual decision.

While critics feared that this might affect his performance, it has not been the case at all. Jackson is off to arguably the best start of his career, completing 64% of his passes for 531 yards and six touchdowns against only one interception. He also ran for 136 yards and a touchdown. Next up, Jackson and his team face the New England Patriots.
