Randi Mahomes Shared Emotional Story And Her Relationship With Her First Born Patrick Mahomes
In anticipation of Patrick Mahomes’ fourth Super Bowl participation, Randi Mahomes, the mother of the NFL star quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, has thought back on her experience as his mother. Her trajectory was altered when she became pregnant with Patrick in 1995 at the age of 20. Prior to that, she felt aimless.
Even though she had felt lost after high school, Patrick’s presence changed her. Despite having no prior experience with raising children, Randi, the youngest of four children, enthusiastically embraced parenthood.

“Patrick is my first child, and I grew up with him basically,” Randi told PEOPLE.
“I had him at a young age, and I don’t go out saying that’s the best thing to do, but it was the best thing for me just because it made me grow up.

“Sometimes, I look back and I’m like, ‘Where would I be if I didn’t have him?’ Because I wasn’t going down a bad road, I just wasn’t going on a road.
“I had someone that needed me. And so, for forever, he was my little best friend. We were together 24/7, and I learned with him.

“He made me grow up in a good way, in a great way. Being a mother is my favorite thing sometimes, and sometimes it’s hard, but it is my favorite thing, and I always say, ‘Where would I be without it?’ “
A unique bond
Pat Mahomes Sr., Patrick, 28, and Jackson, 23, are Randi’s siblings; Mia, 12, is from a previous relationship. Randi was first worried that her children wouldn’t bond because of Patrick and Mia’s large age difference, but all of her children have grown to be close friends.

“[Patrick] is always keeping tabs on what Mia’s doing, both him and Brittany [Mahomes],” Randi added.
“It’s a fun relationship for them to have, and being that I was so nervous they wouldn’t know each other, I can say now that they know each other.”
