Rams HC Sean McVay Spills Beans Regarding Ongoing Retirement Rumors

Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams appear to be absent from all the fanfare surrounding the Super Bowl favourites. This summer, the AFC clubs with strong rosters and quarterbacks have received a lot of attention.

The Philadelphia Eagles, who were dominant last season, and the San Francisco 49ers, who have consistently performed well, are being praised in the NFC.

Rams HC Sean McVay Spills Beans Regarding Ongoing Retirement Rumors

Many people anticipated that McVay’s career would resemble that of Jon Gruden, who also won a Super Bowl when he was young before switching to a second profession as a broadcaster.

McVay has been on the Rams’ coaching staff for the past two years. He recently spoke about some of the retirement rumors on a podcast as he prepares for another season with the squad.

However, the Los Angeles Rams had just won the Lombardi Trophy the previous season, making Sean McVay the Super Bowl’s youngest head coach.

They may have escaped notice in part because of continuous speculations that the head coach would leave his position.

However, he made it clear during an appearance on “The Pivot Podcast” that this is not something that is currently on his mind. He even disqualified it for the foreseeable future, arguing that he couldn’t retire with a 5-12 record in his final campaign.

Says McVay:

“It’s [retirement] not something that I think is anywhere in the near future now, but you got to do it and really, if I had done it, it really would have been more of just because you had some opportunities, it really would have been running away from attack in the opportunity to address some adversity.

“For the first time, we went 5 and 12. I’m not going to run away from that.”

“Last year, it was real,” McVay admits, “only because I wanted to make sure that I could reset myself… just the type vibe that I wanted to have for them…You gotta have a plan in place.”

“… And I think the biggest thing is things had gone so well…,” he says, recalling the ups and downs that his team had on their way to winning Super Bowl 56 against the Cincinatti Bengals, “I was also so fortunate to be a part of all those things happening five years…”

“I don’t know if there was the appreciation for all of that…” he continues candidly, ” because it happened in a manner that went  relatively quickly. And the lies you tell yourself are once we are able to do that, I’ll be ready for something else, and that’s just not the truth at all.”

It will be intriguing to observe McVay’s reaction given that the Rams are expected to experience some significant difficulties in the next season.
