Raiders’ HC Josh McDaniels Addresses Davante Adams’ Concerns About The Team

Adams will be part of a revamped Raiders offense entering his second season after they signed Jimmy Garoppolo and made a number of other adjustments to their entire offensive depth chart.

Adams acknowledged his concerns about the next season and the possibility that he would not agree with the team in an interview with The Ringer.

He said: “The front office think this is the best bet for us right now to put us in a position to be urgent. We don’t see eye-to-eye on what we think is best for us right now. I’m going to have to buy into this and try to be as optimistic as possible. It’s not what I expected to happen, but it’s something that’s the reality now.”

According to McDaniels, there isn’t much “drama” around Adams and his comments, and the All-Pro receiver has “earned” the right to express his views.

“‘Te and I have a great relationship, I know he does with (GM) Dave (Ziegler) as well, he’s here everyday,” McDaniels said Thursday. “I didn’t read the whole thing, so I didn’t really know exactly every nook and cranny of that, but I don’t think there’s much drama here in terms of my relationship, his relationship with us, the way he works, the way he goes about his business.”

The two have spoken, according to McDaniels, who also stated that some team members “have an opinion and a voice because they’ve earned it.”

“I respect the hell out of anything that they (the players) would say or suggest or anything like that over the course of the process of trying to improve our team,” McDaniels said. “I know here Davante comes from, he’s a competitor, he wants to win, that’s his sole focus.”
