Spencer Rattler was an exciting recruit coming out of high school. After a strong start with Oklahoma, the wheels fell off a bit last season which led to Rattler’s decision to transfer to South Carolina.
South Carolina football’s outlook for the 2022 season was murky at the start of the year. However, the Gamecocks have recently developed a reputation for shockingly powerful programs. Spencer Rattler guided South Carolina to an unexpected victory against Tennessee before this triumph over Clemson.

The college football community took notice of Rattler’s celebration strategy in the locker room after the decisive victory. The social media crew for South Carolina posted a video showing Rattler smoking a cigar while perched at his locker.
This is comparable to former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, who is famous for a photo of him smoking a cigar after the team won the National Championship in 2019.

It should be noted that smoking a cigar following a victory to advance to 8-4 on the season is very different than smoking a cigar following a national championship triumph like Joe Burrow did with LSU. Spencer Rattler is obviously content with his life in South Carolina, though. And it’s hard to dispute his talent. It will be intriguing to see what the quarterback’s future holds.
