The 35-year-old quarterback, who was benched for the final two games of the 2023 season, reaffirmed his intention to stay with the Broncos. Wilson wants to lead the team to a place it hasn’t reached in over ten years in addition to being in Denver.
“I’ve got more fire than ever, honestly, especially over the past two years and what I’ve gone through,” Wilson said on the “I Am Athlete” podcast. “Whether it’s in Denver or somewhere else. I hope it’s in Denver. I hope I get to finish there. I committed there. I want to be there.

“For me, it’s about winning. In the next five years, I want to win two. I want to feel the chill of that trophy again. I love the city and everything else, but you also want to be in a place that loves you, too. I want to win, that’s all I care about.”
Wilson addressed his circumstances with awareness, knowing that he will probably play snaps for a different club the next season. Reports suggested that Wilson would be open to signing a league-minimum salary in order to get into a better scenario the following season, coinciding with the release of the podcast episode on Sunday.
“Whether it’s in Denver or somewhere else, I hope it’s in Denver. I hope I get to finish there,” Wilson said. “I committed there. I wanted to be there. I want to be there. For me, it’s about winning. When Wilson signed with the Broncos two years ago, it appeared to be the Second Coming of Peyton Manning in Denver, but it turned out to be one of the worst signings in team history. as 2022, Wilson has started for the Broncos and gone 11-19. However, as he is now facing a more difficult opponent without Pete Carroll as his coach, Wilson’s reputation has been under intense criticism.
Since Wilson was benched at the end of the previous season, there has been much discussion about his future in Denver. Wilson had had a good season up to that moment, but he was benched. Last season, he had his highest completion percentage (66.4) since 2020. Last season, Russell also tossed 26 touchdown passes against only eight interceptions.
Ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine, Russell Wilson spent more than an hour on @IAMATHLETEpod and reiterated his willingness to return to Denver despite the unlikelihood of a reunion.

Wilson stated that he plans to play for the Broncos in 2024–2025, although this offseason, the franchise is most likely headed for a split. When considering a fresh start, the Broncos have demonstrated a willingness to part with their $242 million quarterback. To retain Wilson for the upcoming season, Denver will either have to pay Wilson a guaranteed $37 million or give Wilson until the middle of March to make up his mind.
