QB Aaron Rodgers Contract Strategy With Jets Will Pay Him $107 Million In 2024
Aaron Rodgers, the newest quarterback for the New York Jets, will be making the minimum wage in 2023 but will be paid handsomely in 2024 after the Green Bay Packers converted his 2023 option bonus to salary.
It appears that Rodgers will have his contract revised in 2023 to better represent his worth, and because to the Packers’ conversion, he will also be rewarded handsomely next season.

Last year, Green Bay paid Aaron Rodgers a sizable new deal, and a portion of the calculations of trading him this year was getting the contract off their salary cap.
“It appears the Packers converted Aaron Rodgers’ $58.3M 2023 option bonus into 2024 salary, which means he’s scheduled to make $1.165M this year and $107.55M next year,” said ESPN’s Dan Graziano on Thursday.
The Jets have converted $4.32M of DL John Franklin-Myers base salary into a signing bonus, creating ~$3.5M in 2023 salary cap space, per source.
A little more flexibility for the Jets for when they have to eventually fit a restructured contract for Aaron Rodgers on their books.

“So he’d only count $1.165M against the Jets’ cap this year, and obviously they’ll restructure next year. Jets can also rework Rodgers’ deal THIS offseason, and I would expect that to happen so he’s not just playing on the minimum in 2023.”
According to sources, Rodgers has restructured his deal such that it works for the Jets. The Jets won’t need to make any other changes when the new adjustments are made in order to stay under their salary cap.

In the end, Rodgers changed his option bonus of $58.3 million (for 2023) into his basic pay for 2024. Naturally, this implies that Rodgers will receive the necessary $1.165 million for the 2023 season.
