Predictions For Shohei Ohtani’s Upcoming Free Agency Contract
The most dynamic player in baseball, the 28-year-old two-way star Shohei Ohtani for the Los Angeles Angels, has led baseball in WAR over the last three seasons by finishing in the top 10 among pitchers and the top 30 among position players, and he is still going strong in the first month of his contract year.
What will Ohtani receive?
Predictions For Shohei Ohtani’s Upcoming Free Agency Contract
last month On the Dan Patrick Show, ESPN’s Tim Kurkjian forecasted that Ohtani’s next deal will be worth more than $500 million.
“He’s going to break every record by a mile … and there are a bunch of teams that are really going to be interested, and there are a bunch of teams that seem to be saving up their money right now to afford him.”
One MLB executive on an ESPN panel predicts Shohei Ohtani to sign an 11-year, $605 million contract.
That’s $55 million a year, and would shatter the record for the largest contract in American sports history.

Can the Angels afford him, Kurkjian is questioned.
“I think they can, and I think they’re actually doing the right thing here, holding onto him. And they’re going to try to win. And they’re going to try to convince him that we’re going to win here, and we’re going to win long-term here. And we’re going to build around you, and you’re going to be Mike Trout’s teammate for maybe another 10 years. If that doesn’t happen, if they get to the trade deadline and the Angels are not going to the playoffs, and they don’t have a bright future, I think that’s when they’re going to have to trade Ohtani.”
Shohei Ohtani's free agency is the most anticipated since The Decision in 2010.

According to the most recent rumor from ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Shohei Ohtani’s base contract in 2023 free agency might be $500 million, according to Pat McAfee on Twitter.
“If Shohei Ohtani goes out this year, and puts up numbers like he has the last two seasons, the number is going to start at $500 million and only go up from there,” Passan said on the Pat McAfee Show.
Then Passan listed probable suitors for Shohei Ohtani, naturally starting with the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers.
An MLB executive predicts Shohei Ohtani will sign an 11-year, $605M contract next offseason.

“When the Dodgers are playing. And when Steve Cohen, the New York Mets, the Seattle Mariners, and the San Diego Padres are present… Chicago Cubs and Angels are both attempting to keep him around. In fact, he will have made an insane amount of money, which is ludicrous player.
Shohei Ohtani came close to winning the AL MVP award in 2021 and 2022. Even if he was only a hitter, he would consistently be a candidate for the MVP. He is a celebrity once in a generation, though, because he is also a gifted pitcher. Teams are going to be open to dish out an “absurd amount of money,” like Passan said, to sign him.
BREAKING: The Milwaukee Brewers and Shohei Ohtani have agreed on a 1 year contract, sources tell ESPN. Ohtani will earn $35 million, as well as 40% ownership of the Milwaukee Brewers, until he retires from baseball. https://t.co/Hu0Vc8hSe1
